Manitowoc cranes speed up Australian bridge builds

 Australian crane rental giant Universal Cranes has built two bridges using Manitowoc cranes from its fleet.

This company used Manitowoc��s largest all-terrain crane, a GMK7450 for that first job and selected two Manitowoc crawler crane �C a 16000 plus a 12000 – to the second.

Critical for the velocity of these two projects was the cranes�� quick set-up and precise load control, as well as Universal Cranes��s specially-designed lattice spreader, as Nick Morris, engineering and sales manager at Universal Cranes, explains: ��Manitowoc designs its cranes to get simple and fast to setup, and their smooth movement ensures they are suited to picking almost any load. Enhance which our unique spreader and that we can be extremely efficient on nearly every job site, keeping some time and cost to some minimum for the customers.��

Universal Cranes used its Grove GMK7450 to create the 64 m long Bruce Highway Bridge near Calliope in central Queensland. The 450t capacity crane installed 22 precast concrete beams, measuring 33m long and weighing 74t, across a two-week period.
